Admission Criteria
We take the following admission criteria into account when admitting students to Webster Street Academy:
• Students generally are between 12 and 17 years of age, although exceptions may be made for students who exceed this age range
• Students are primarily those at-risk of being suspended or expelled; however, students may be eligible for the program even if they are expelled or suspended, as long as their home school system supports their placement at Webster Street Academy
• Students are experiencing emotional problems that interfere with school functioning
• The student’s parent/guardian agrees to and supports their child’s placement at Webster Street Academy
• The student must, according to best practices, seem likely to benefit from the services offered by Webster Street Academy
• The student’s present school system must support the child’s placement into Webster Street Academy, even if the child is expelled
Students with more severe emotional or behavioral issues may be excluded from program admission. In addition, lack of agreement/support from the student and/or his or her family/guardian or the school system may also result in the child’s exclusion from program admission.
