Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment (CPST)

CPST services are designed to coordinate and link the student (and his or her family) with those community-based services and opportunities that are both needed and desired. The Community Support Specialist focuses on extending the supports of the program beyond the four walls of the building and into the community. The wide array of services provided by the Community Support Specialist include:

• Coordinating an education plan with the Circle of Support that outlines a specific academic track designed to help students realize their desired educational goal / benchmark
• Assisting students in the identification, acquisition and retention of functional employment
• Ensuring students have mobility skills by accessing various forms of transportation, including public transportation systems
• Assisting students in accessing community resources in order to promote happy and healthy lifestyles, including recreation and hobbies
• Educating students and their families about medication administration and monitoring for potential side effects, where applicable
• Supporting students in matters related to probation and working with the judicial system
