Our Program Philosophy

Webster Street Academy promotes a “partnership” style relationship with each child’s school system. Therefore, students attending Webster Street Academy remain actively enrolled in their home school system, maintain social connections with their home school (unless otherwise indicated) and are awarded credit for the academic grades they earn.

By wrapping therapeutic services around a highly individualized, educational program, Webster Street Academy specializes in preparing youth to better cope with those emotional problems that interfere with their ability to achieve success, whether it be in school or life in general. In addition to academic instruction (Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies), students receive coping skills training and instruction in the development of pro-social competencies.

Working within the framework of an Interdisciplinary Team, the Child, and his or her Circle of Support, is encouraged to identify goals that will promote the child’s reintegration into a less restrictive environment. Therefore, length of enrollment is based primarily on the individual’s readiness to attain their expressed desired outcomes, whether that requires either short term or long-term participation.
